It was a day in October of 2020, and I learned 3 big lessons on LIFE by 11:00 in the morning. I'd like to share these lessons with you over the course of 3 weeks.
Lesson #3 came at 10:00 that morning -
A small group of us arrived at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Little Rock to simply pray. This was done in conjunction with the "40 Days for Life" campaign and was happening at abortion clinics all over the world!
We prayed first as a group and then on our own. I prayed mostly for the people that I saw. As far as I could tell, there was only one client who arrived during our time there that day. She parked way around toward the back of the facility and I didn't get a good look at her. But there were numerous employees, somewhere around 10, who came dressed and ready for work that morning. Their parking area was right out front and we could see them well.
From my perspective, it seemed like a normal workplace. Some employees arriving early, some a little late. One brought coffees from a local shop for her co-workers. At one point, a couple of the employees came back outside for a break. They visited for 20 minutes or so, just as everything was normal.
What I could not stop thinking about was the evil that occurs on a daily basis just beyond that doorway. How could these people, who are in this place day in and day out, carry on as if this is a normal place of business? I wondered what it felt like in the building. What it felt like to get up in the morning and go to work in this place. I wondered what it was like to have a steady stream of people standing on the public sidewalk outside your workplace praying for you, that you would stop doing what you are doing.
II Corinthians 4:4-6 explains why they do this. Paul says, "In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
LIFE is precious. It is a gift. You cannot gain LIFE on your own. When dead, you have no consciousness of LIFE. LIFE must be granted to you by a power beyond your own.
So, why do so many participate in and approve of such evil? Because they do not love Jesus. They do not know the author of life. Jesus (John 14:6) said, I am the LIFE. If we love Jesus, we will love life, too.
If they knew the loving-kindness of our Savior, would they turn to His light and leave their life of darkness? If they knew, really understood, the history of and motivations behind such an organization, would they participate? If they knew that their founder, Margaret Sanger, targeted minorities in order to keep their population in check, would they participate? I do not know.
If you are His, then I Peter 2:9 applies to you. It reads, "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
Let us proclaim His excellencies to those are in darkness. Let us pray that He will call them out of darkness and into light!
